August 2024 Position Opening: Restorative Justice Manager
CMRS is seeking a passionate and qualified Restorative Justice Manager to join our team. This is a versatile position for an experienced practitioner, and blends program management (reporting, evaluating, supervising) with hands-on community-based restorative diversion and school-based restorative services. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in supporting an amazing team of restorative justice practitioners who facilitate conferences for youth and young adults involved in incidents with potential legal consequences. In addition, you will advocate for the use of restorative justice philosophy and practices in our local communities and manage the Community Crime and Intervention Program (CCIP) and Justice Advisory Grant (JAG), including quarterly reporting. Finally, you will provide restorative services in the community and schools.About CMRS: Community Mediation & Restorative Services, Inc (CMRS) is a Minnesota nonprofit committed to restorative justice practices. Our mission is to provide a safe and inclusive space for dialogue and accountability, fostering healing and growth for youth/young adults, impacted persons, and the community. Responsibilities:
Program Management. Help to shape and implement the vision and expansion of future restorative justice work through CMRS. Serve as the liaison to both referral and funding partners. Manage evaluation and program reporting for Community Crime and Intervention Program (CCIP) and Justice Advisory Grant (JAG).
Outreach and Advocacy. With an equity lens, engage new referral partners that can help us heal harms in the community instead of the justice system. Work with local schools, cities, courts, law enforcement, Multicultural Advisory Councils, Joint Community Police Partnership liaisons and businesses to create opportunities for community-based restorative diversion.
Team-building. Support and coordinate a team of employees, volunteers, interns and contracted restorative practitioners. Continue to cultivate a community of CMRS practitioners who provide restorative services with an equity and trauma-responsive lens.
Direct services: Community: Facilitate restorative conferences. Identify and engage key participants, including referred youth/young adults, impacted persons, supportive adults, and community members. Facilitate restorative conferences, following a structured approach that promotes understanding, empathy, and accountability. Conduct follow-up assessments and gather feedback to evaluate program effectiveness. Maintain accurate case documentation and data collection.
Direct services: Schools. Working with the Restorative Schools Coordinator, provide preventative (circles) and responses (chats, conferences, coaching) in a local school.
Qualifications:
Experience with restorative justice and/or restorative practices. Strong understanding of restorative justice principles and practices.
Experience in program management - supporting a team, implementing a vision, managing reports.
Combined education and/or work experience of 6 years providing and managing direct services in a school, social service or justice-involved setting.
Ability to build rapport and trust with diverse populations. Culturally competent and committed to racial equity.
Trauma-informed care experience preferred.
Proficiency in software applications and data collection methods.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
